Summary:

Mountain Adventures is a summer camp based out of Crested Butte Mountain Resort.
Our mission is to provide opportunities for personal growth and connection to the environment through safe, educational, and fun adventure-based activities.
We provide quality outdoor adventure experiences for residents of the Crested Butte area as well as summer visitors from mid-June through August.
We believe that children grow and learn best in a supportive, nurturing environment in which participants feel safe to take on personal challenges.
Mountain Adventures practices Leave-No-Trace ethics and Challenge-By-Choice learning.

Camp Counselor positions require the ability to work effectively with children 7-14 years old by creating a safe, fun and educational environment.
Counselors will be responsible for a group of 6-12 children each day.
Counselors must have the ability to teach and guide students in the specific activity that they are leading.
Camp activities include:
Archery and Disc Golf, Mountain Nature Day, Wilderness Skills and Peak Hike.
While counselors do not need to be experts in all of these fields they should be willing to learn and have a passion for the outdoors and an ability to spread passion through engagement.
Employment is summer seasonal, Monday-Friday with options of Full Time or Part Time.
Shifts are typically 8:
30am-4:
30pm.
Paid Training starts on June 7th.

Job
Responsibilities:

  • Conduct a variety of outdoor summer camp programs for children ages 7-14.
  • Plan and lead a variety of activities, fitting into activity descriptions.
  • Facilitate a comfortable and safe experience for campers by providing physical assistance and moral support.
  • Be an assertive leader and enthusiastic role model while maintaining excellent group management and safety awareness.
  • Ability to communicate clearly and effectively with parents regarding daily activities and feedback regarding their child s performance.
  • Attends mandatory training to promote a safe working environment and assure proper procedures for all activities the counselor will lead.
  • Assists with daily set up and take down for all camp activities.
  • Actively communicates and works with all departments to ensure the highest level of Guest Service to the guests of CBMR.
  • Work together with all other staff to ensure each child has a safe and positive experience with the program.
  • Required to maintain all equipment being used as well as maintaining a day to day inventory of this equipment.
  • Supports and promotes Crested Butte Mountain Resort.

Job Requirements:

  • Must have at least 450 documented hours working with children.
  • Previous work experience required.
  • Excellent customer service skills with the ability to be responsible and FUN!
  • Enthusiastic self-starter capable of working with minimal supervision.
  • Follow safe risk-management guidelines and strict COVID prevention protocols.
    Use positive behavior management strategies
  • Must be able to hike on variable terrain and spend 7 hours outdoors at a time in a wilderness setting
  • Must be able to pass Trails, CBI and FBI background check and fingerprints
  • Must be able to lift up to 25lbs.
  • High School Diploma.
  • Must be 21 years of age or older.
  • CPR, 1st Aid.
    Can be obtained locally before start date.

The budgeted range starts at 15.

The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
